I had high hopes for the Techyak but I’m really disappointed in this shoe, especially at this price point. My biggest issue is that they feel way too short. While the toe box seems wide enough there doesn’t seem to be enough length and my big toe and the one right next to it (index toe?) are constantly rubbing up against the front of the shoe. Going up a half size might solve this issue. For reference I have a pair of the Loyak and a pair of the Loyak All-weather and they both fit wonderfully at my regular size. My next issue is that they feel snug at the mid foot and even after wearing the Techyaks for a few weeks they haven’t loosened up much. So between the toe issue and the mid-foot, my feet just feel like they’re getting squished. Right now I can’t really wear them for anything other than just walking around and only for short periods at a time. This makes for a very expensive walking shoe. I definitely can’t wear these while hiking (which is mainly what I purchased them for) because I’d end up with sore feet and blisters. I will say that they look awesome and seem to be very well constructed. The sole and grip are outstanding. They are very breathable and pretty light weight as well. I think they’d make for an excellent hiking shoe if they just fit better. Again, going up a half size may make a difference but unfortunately I have worn these too much at this point to exchange them. I’m not sure if I can recommend these. Other reviewers seem to love them but I’m curious if anyone else has experienced the same issues I have.
