GUBI's Basket lounge chair is part of a captivating rattan furniture collection designed by Joe Colombo. Basket armchair combines industrial manufacturing and extremely detailed artisanship: modernist, even futuristic shape meets ancient techniques. The name "Basket" is a tribute to the classic hand-weaving method of rattan baskets. Originally designed back in the 1960s, GUBI has now reproduced the elegant collection remaining faithful to the original design, with only a few minor changes. The chair's dimensions have been updated to meet today's ergonomic needs. The original inner shell, made from fiberglass, has been replaced with an environmentally friendly carbon steel shell that offers more stability and durability. The steel frame is covered with carefully hand-crafted rattan strips interlaced over each other. The rounded, embracingly comfortable cushions on the seat and backrest crown the look of the charming lounge chair.
