Backstory: I have been using The North Face's Men's Surge Backpack for the last 5-7 years and it is starting to wear and tear. I was looking for something slightly less expensive to replace it with since The North Face seems to be having an issue with its shoulder straps on backpacks recently. I have been on the fence about getting this and finally pulled the trigger on 5/8/24. The High Sierra website made it look sturdy and I used to have a High Sierra backpack back 15-20 years ago in middle school and I loved it and remember it being very sturdy. I received mine in the mail today (5/15/24) and was shocked at the poor quality of the backpack. The backpack is very thin and it does not look like it can hold very much. It is also very poorly constructed and uses what I think is very poor material for a $40 backpack. The only reason I am giving it 1 star is for the color and the quick shipping. I also bought an Adidas Prime backpack (which if you don't catch it on sale on the Adidas website, retails for $70) to compare and the Adidas Prime is so much better/roomier/functional (in my opinion) than this backpack could ever be. I was considering purchasing a Swiss Gear backpack, but have since found out that Swiss Gear is owned by Samsonite as is High Sierra and am now doubting the quality of all the brands Samsonite owns...
