Project Source 5-Tier Heavy Duty Utility Shelving Unit
The Project Source 5-tier boltless steel shelving unit can be assembled vertically as a 72 in. high freestanding shelving or as two individual 36 in. high workbenches. Five adjustable particle board shelves can support up to 800 lbs. per shelf with the weights evenly distributed, enabling you to store a large number of household and personal items. The product is made from powder-coated finish for resistance to stains or corrosion and also includes 3/8-in. particle board decking for smallest sized articles. The shelves are adjustable in 1-1/2-in increments to accommodate your storage needs. Boltless design provides easy and quick assembly and no special tools are required. Plastic feet make the unit more stable and protect flooring from indentations or scratches, and also ensure ease of movement.

The frame is sturdy enough and assembly is very easy, but the shelves are 3/8” thick particle board which will deflect when a fly lands on it. Once the humidity is absorbed and any significant weight is applied, they sag significantly. Your best bet is to use the shelves to hold plastic bins that are greater that 24” deep (like an under-mattress box) so that the bin can rest on the metal frame instead of the shelf. Another option for smaller bins is to add strips of wood 25” long to place under heavy items. It’s a shame they cut costs so much to put out a product that can’t serve its basic purpose without adding some help to it. The oxymoron on the box touts “solid particle board”. Go figure. So I’d recommend the product if you go into eyes wide open knowing the shelving is inadequate, but it can be overcome if you adapt the use.
