Overall the new Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX seem like a great shoe. They are lightweight, made of durable material, have great traction, and are great at keeping your feet dry. Long story incoming - Back to when I bought the Pegasus Trail 4 GORE-TEX. I originally bought them in a size 9, this is my go-to Nike size. Usually a size 9 fits great but I was swimming in these. I think large fit was due to the toe-box being wide/large. Nike's awesome return policy allowed me to exchange them for a size 8.5. I gotta say, those size 8.5 Pegasus 4's were the some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn/owned. Like, amazingly comfortable, all while being suited for outdoor activities, wet or dry. So with the new Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX I figured that size 8.5 would do the job. This time though, the size was too small. The shoes were tight and my feet were uncomfortable, especially in the arch area. I will also add that the toe-box is narrower than the Trail 4's. Naturally I thought that exchanging them for a size 9 (my go-to size) would be the right choice. The size 9 fit my feet a lot better in the toe-box area, however my feet were not agreeing with the arch. I wore the size 9 once for a round of disc-golf and experienced discomfort in my arch area for the entire time I had them on. Unfortunately I had to return these shoes. The high arch gave me enough foot pain. Enough that I suspected that any amount of breaking them in would not help. Overall they seem like a great shoe, have grippy tread, good water resistance/proofing, and comfortable foam. I should note that the foam seemed a bit more stiff than the Trail 4's. Nike is my go-to shoe brand, they pretty much always (not this time though!) fit my feet great and last a long time. So I'd recommend these to people with a high/higher arch and slimmer (less wide) feet. However, to those with a lower arch, I would not recommend these shoes. If you are able to try them on before buying I would definitely recommend doing so.
