I was a long-time Sony A1 user, and for the most part, loved it, so I wasn't sure if this was worth the upgrade. Well...I'm happy to report that this camera is worth every penny, especially as an upgrade from an A1, and is ideal for those looking for a "do-it-all" camera. The new ergonomics make this camera significantly more comfortable to hold compared to previous models. - The new articulating screen from the Sony A7rV and A9 III is so welcome. Arguably the best design in the business right now. - The added AI Autofocus chip is incredible and is spot on with focus accuracy and speed - Colors to me seem slightly better than the older A1 and feel more pleasing when it comes to skin tones and overall auto white balance decision making. - Precapture is a game changer! - The camera, from an operational standpoint, is quick, from turning on the camera to navigating the menus - The sensor, although identical to the original A1, offers a slight advantage in low-light performance at high ISOs, without compromising dynamic range. Still one of the best sensors from readout speed to color, and dynamic range latitude. This is a true powerhouse when it comes to a still and video machine. It's expensive, but if you do a lot of work in stills and video, or need speed without compromising image quality, this is the camera to get. I highly recommend it, and yes, the upgrades from the Sony A1 are totally worth it!
