Cuisinart 14 Cup Programmable

I used to own Model DCC-3000 for several years. Unfortunately in the box that manages the coffee level display some nasty black residue built up, and there was no time I would be able to remove that for good, no matter how hard I tried. So, I decided it was time for a new coffee maker. While I have my own coffeemaker (single serve pod machine), this is for my husband, who likes it quick and easy in the morning, therefore it was either another "on-demand" or a programmable, which I prepare the evening before including the start time. This model seems to do it all. I have now used this machine for exactly one week, and I start seeing the negatives. Every time you pull the carafe out to fill your cup, the bottom of the carafe is scratching the warming plate. Referring to another review I have seen where the plate rusted badly, I am expecting the same within a few months. So far, I am wiping it off every morning and make sure the bottom of the carafe is dry, but those warming surfaces will get permanently damaged over time. So I know this machine will not last very long. Another negative that really makes me mad is the noise. I have the timer set for 6:15 am to have coffee ready by 6:30 when my husband gets up. For the last week using this coffeemaker we no longer need an alarm clock. When brewing, the sound is nearly unbearable, almost like it is exploding any second. That alone is the reason I was trying to return it to my local retailer, but Dillard's refuses to accept returns at all, unless the machine has a mechanical defect. My two negatives are not considered mechanical defects. Well, lesson learned, but I hope I can warn enough people not to buy this machine.
