I wanted to upgrade from my GoPro Hero 7 to shoot PoV videos during a hiking trip to Besseggen in Norway. After a lot of research and comparison I found the DJI Osmo Action 5. I tested the camera on display at Verkkokauppa, at first look the user interface looked questionable. But I bought it anyway trusting other reviews on Verkkokauppa.com and the 30 day return policy of Verkkokauppa.com. After using it and testing it during the hiking these are my reviews. Great: * stabilisation is absolutely perfect. I never felt any shake in any situations. * the extendable stick in the adventure combo was absolutely useful for taking shots of myself as well as taking drone like shots. * the magnetic snapping attachment is very reliable and flexible * the snapshot feature was very useful. The camera is powered off but when we click the power button it wakes up and takes a shot and then when you stop recording it just goes back to sleep again. * OLED screen in the front is helpful for framing your shots * the battery was also long lasting- about 2 hours. I never had to use a second battery during a single hike. * the Mounts are compatible with those of GoPro so you don’t have to discard all your old mounts from GoPro and buy new ones for the DJI Osmo action. * you can have different video profiles saved which you can switch easily based on your filming situations. For example, I had two profiles for shooting videos from the car dashboard and another for shooting handheld. * Ability to record video 10-bit DLog captures much more dynamic range and flexibility during editing. * voice feedback during starting record and stopping recording make sure you took the shot. Bad: * the buttons feel a bit hard so you have to press with force. * putting on the outer shell for water tightness seemed a bit difficult and even I felt it might scratch the camera * the voice commands felt a bit less responsive. I had to shout at the camera to start/stop recording. For some reason it wouldn’t obey my start record, but would always recognise my stop record command if I’m sufficiently loud. I hope they would fix it with a firmware update. Overall, the camera performed reliably and glitch free during the entire trip. I hope to edit and release the hiking video I shot with the camera very soon. But I have my favourite photo attached here from the top of Besseggen Ridge.
