Sur La Table Ratchet Spice Grinder Mill

Warning - This device will not last. Disintegrated in my hands as I was using it. Examining the failure mode indicates an apparent design deficiency - weak joint glued together inadequately that opened up on one side and caused the plastic to break on the opposite side. Did not drop it or abuse it in any way. Contacted support and they said I was past the 1-year warranty period. This is true - you got me. By the way, I told them it was over a year when I first contacted them and they asked me to find the receipt. After much digging eventually I found it and when they saw it was more than a year they said no luck. I guess you could have told me that when I told you it was over a year in the first place. I thought Sur La Table was a premium product and they might stand behind that product regardless of the published warranty - but not the case. Just be aware this product appears to have a design flaw and may not last. I don't see any mention of this on this site but go to Amazon and look at the reviews of this product. Every review with a picture appears to have the same failure mechanism. There is a very similar product out there by a different company (just google ratchet grinder and you will likely find it). I am going to see if that one is any better. No more Sur La Table.
