You will need to sign up for an account in order to use these lights. Signing up for an account requires you to give the company permission to sell your data. You need an account to use these lights without smartphone app that works as a remote control for the lights. The company does not respond to customer service calls or emails, so if you have a problem with the lights, you will be stuck. They sometimes change the Wi-Fi requirements for the app without notice, so just because the lights use one year, doesn't mean that you will be able to use them next year. Other stores that sell these lights are inundated with one star reviews. I recommend that you check these other reviews before deciding on purchasing these lights.
