Best Choice Products Portable Sewing Machine Beginners Kit

Bought for my 9 year old for Christmas. It is a good size for a younger sewer doing some basic sewing projects. The manual does not give much information; for instance, the "off, L (low), H (high)" settings for the sewing speed -- one would have thought off was off and it needed either to be at "L" or "H" to then depress the foot pedal to sew at that speed (as the foot pedal does not have that level of sensitivity). But, no, on this machine "off" is the setting for the foot pedal and will sew if depressed. "L", and "H", we discovered, the machine sews on its own at that respective speed and if you want to stop you have to switch the button to "off". I've never seen this feature and couldn't find anything about it in the instruction manual. Also, we've only used it a few times, and given so many negative reviews, I'm not sure how long we'll go without major problems. But so far it's been okay. I will update as time goes on if the machine stops working.
