This is my first Dyson vacuum. The battery in my previous vacuum died and so I needed a new one. After all the rave about Dyson vacuums I decided to splurge. However, after my first month of used it I'm really not impressed and regret my financial decision. I like that it is lightweight and thin. The sucking power when I'm using it like a dust buster is great, however, it honestly is terrible in its stick form for many reasons. First, the roller on the bottom, their signature look and function does not work well. It doesn't seem to roll smoothly and I feel like it scraps against the flor, rather then gently glides which is what I was expecting (like every other vacuum). Second, the roller doesn't bend the head of the vacuum. If I need to change angles of how I'm vacuuming, I have to manually bend the head to the angle I need in order to reach under objects, this is super annoying, I mean think about how often you change the angle when our vacuuming. I'm better off vacuum the floor with the dust buster attachment. Finally, it doesn't suck when vacuuming backwards. When I vacuum in a forward motion it is a pain but it gets the job done, however, when I pull the vacuum backwards not only doe sit not suck up debris on my lvp floors but it throws the dirt all around the room. I think I got a dud! The other part that I don't really like is the way the canister empties. The canister cover slides down to top debris but things such as pet fur and hair get stuck and I have to fiddle my fingers and wire brushes to completely clean it out. When cleaning out the couch from kid crumbs it works great! It sucks up every little parcel of dust and debris which is great. Overall, it's a very expensive dust buster. I am very sad. I honestly might end up buying a cheap vacuum and only use this Dyson to clean my couch. If your heart is set on buying a Dyson, buy a refurnished one, you will probably have better quality control.
